fast food

it fills but in emptiness

sweets and hungers of the world

they fill but do not satisfy

They satiate but do not nourish

only an emptiness

creating greater hunger

gluttony is my sin

at least it has been for a while.

We talk of all the others, but not

That one. Why

Gluttony rears

January 23, 2023January 22, 2023 by ekoileman, posted in poetry, writing

I feel the rumble in my stomach.

Gluttony rears its head,

cake, and sweets, and frosted-mountains,

a stomach distended,

loose skin that will not leave

a body expecting fat.

prayer helps, but a miracle is needed.

I beseech my Maker.

I know He wants His temple,

my body,

to be its best.
